Hooray! In recent weeks, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, US Secretary of State John Kerry and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim have all called on countries and business to take the threats posed by global warming more seriously. Jim made what many believe was an historic call for investors to consider ditching holdings in fossil fuel companies.
Is this the beginning of a new era?
With the G20 Summit in Brisbane, Australia, this November, and The United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris, France in 2015, let’s hope for strong cohesion and implementation of policies to greatly reduce carbon emissions and for the use of more environmentally friendly renewal energy.
