Hello, my name is Bridget Cameron.
Thank you for visiting and welcome to my blog. I do hope my blog inspires you.
ABOUT ME
I am a Mother of life, Lover, Artist, Counsellor, Teacher and Student. I believe in the power of words to change our world for the better. I love nature in all contexts and find myself playing with the meanings and delights that can be found in the everyday and the unseen.
I love expressing my feelings in beautiful ways and feel that writing poetry and music help me connect with other people and the world around me. I see beauty in nature, in people and love to document my discoveries through my poetry, photographs, paintings, fractal art, music and other writings.
I also love to help the environment too, and am an advocate for environmental awareness and change having acted as environmental spokeswoman at public events, and having articles, poems published in newspapers and journals. I have helped preserve ancient trees, instead of them been bulldozed to make a car park. I have prevented an unncecessary mariner from being built on a reef. I have saved and relocated native fish from impending death during drought…I am a member of the National Geographic Society, gold member of Bush for Life and Trees for life, have grown many trees, planted them, collected seeds, weeded feral weeds and clean up rubbish regularly from around creeks, water areas and ‘green areas’. I am a regularly photographic contributor to Birds SA.
Having qualifications in Visual Arts, Graphic Design, Writing, Science (nursing) and Psychology/counselling, I am often called upon to help those in crises, to help direct and refocus lives, to help people get a grip on reality, to nurture people’s spirits, to help alleviate stress/anxiety, to help people with terminal illnesses and to guide people over to the other side.
I am also an advocate for people with disabilities of all kinds, having performed poetry for mental health week through MindShare, and having had my photos and poetry made into posters and calendars published by Commonwealth Department for Health and Family Services and Nican, to help de-stigmatize people with disabilities and to help celebrate International Day of people with disabilities and other campaigns. I have also run art classes for people with disabilities at the Box Factory Community Arts Centre.
I have performed live poetry/storytelling/visual projections at Festivals, schools, Book Week, Let’s read launch, libraries, community centres, exhibitions, have worked in education, creating programs for DECS ( Department of Education for Children Services) and have staged poetry/writing workshops for all ages. :).
My artworks are in many private collections around the globe, and my poetry, articles, photos and illustrations have been published in exhibitions, calendars, posters, books, journals, magazines, e-zines and websites worldwide.
I have read and performed my poetry in many countries, and have had multiple poetry/art exhibitions (fine art, digital art, photographic, poetry and projections) in South Australia: Nature Talk, Linked Realities, Celebration… and digital poetry/art exhibitions in Paris 2013 and New York Exposure Exhibition 2013/2014, part of the group PhotoCat exhibition and book, Amsterdam 2017/8, Hanoi, Vietnam 2020, Paris and Barcelona 2020, WWF exhibition, Edinburgh 2020, Berlin 2021, Montreal exhibition 2021.

“As part of the April School Holiday fun program at the City of Playford Library, children ages 3-7 were treated to a unique experience of storytelling by Bridget Cameron. Bridget Cameron is a qualified and experienced storyteller, author, illustrator and facilitator.
” With the theme of Animal Stories, Bridget captivated the children and their parents with her unique performance storytelling. The stories and rhymes were presented by Bridget in an animated way, which integrated drama, dance, movement and art. The children heard stories about; ‘ Koala, Kangaroo and Grandma too’, a tale about a Pig who learnt to love herself as she is, ‘ Little Johnny Jingle Mouse’, ‘ Shimmer Unicorn’, ‘The Greedy Seal’, a story about a Baboon who learnt to be grateful for what features he had, ‘Butterfly Dancer’, ‘Amelia and Big Blue’, and so much more….
” Each story/rhyme had a positive moral to it which was clear for the children to understand. Bridget encouraged the children to join in by acting out the characters in stories, joining in with sound effects, guessing what happens next in the story and dancing and moving around the room. The parents were happy to be involved too, and enjoyed their new found experience of ‘performance storytelling’. Irina one of the Mums present stated, “you don’t get this kind of storytelling anymore”, while another Mum commented, “It’s a different way of having a story being told, and I loves it! ”

I feel a connection with Bridget even though we live oceans apart. Initially that was through the warmth of her personality and our shared insights and experiences. This led to the enjoyment of accessing her incredibly diverse portfolio on line. One day, I might have the pleasure of viewing the original artistry that accompany her spiritual writing and to witness the habitat that generates so much of her portrayals 🙂

Thank you for your comment on “stained glass Chartres” on behalf of the craftsmen! Sainte Chapelle in Paris is (to me) even more wonderful. Really like your colours. Des.

You are welcome Des. I would have to agree, even though Chartres gets more attention! I think the ribbed vaulting with all of those stained-glass windows at Sainte Chapelle are indeed impressive! The light appears almost ethereal as it shines through, giving it a lovely aqua/bluey purple hue from a distance, almost akin to the Blue Mountains near Sydney. You may enjoy my Blue and Gold which has a similar feel, in macro. cheers to you, Bridget 🙂
