Ocean Womb

This is an old poem that I want to share with you!  It is the experience I had just after exchanging vows with my beloved. All of nature joined in to share our joy, and for one hour or so, I swam with the dolphins and heard the most beautiful music.

OCEAN WOMB

Looking out towards the ocean from the crest in the dune where I stand, I see an expanse of water that continues as far as the horizon. Where the water meets the sand, waves break, producing foaming froth, as the sea sparkles her brilliance at me. From the froth I visualise Botticelli’s, Birth of Venus as she rides on her shell towards me.

I walk a little further until I reach the beach and sit in quiet contemplation, marvelling many of nature’s secrets, until an urge draws me into the whispering sea…

I splash, I bathe, I run, I skip, I swirl, I swim, I am embraced. I feel like a child wrapped in the arm s of a loving Mother, nurtured and loved we unite as one. She sings to me, she clothes me, I am the seed within her liquid womb.

Small colourful fish swim with me, kissing my body ever so gently, and lead me to an oasis of dolphins dreaming. Two streams of dolphins unite to create future magic. I become part of their dreaming and recall the unfolding of nature’s celestial tunes within the cathedral of my heart. Such ecstasy and beauty fill me, as I ride the rippling diamond sea upon the dolphins’ breath.

The heavens open sprinkling the earth as waves caress my body and land me upon the shore. Standing upright a rainbow bridge joins a golden setting sun and a rising silvery moon.

THANK YOU!

Rainbow Dream

A little hypnotic music video I put together, inspired by a passing rainbow cloud…:)

Rainbow Dream

Life’s a big picture,
look at all the pretty colours.
Life’s a big picture,
on the big screen.
Open your eyes up,
see the beauty in the moment.
Open your heart up,
create your best rainbow dreams.

Superb Fairy Wren (Malurus cyaneus)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I’ve been trying to capture the image of one of these beautiful birds for such a long time, almost as long as my memory serves me. They are quite rare and to catch the  fleeting aqua/blue as they fly past is quite extraordinary. It is only the male fairy wrens that have the bright blue aqua plumage, and only when they are breeding. When they are not breeding, they take on the brown colours of the female wren, although parading a blue/purple tail.  Males are usually found with females, as they are socially monogamous. The females brown plumage support a blue tail and they have red feathers around the eyes.

AUSTRALIAN RESEARCHERS HAVE DISCOVERED that crafty fairy-wrens can understand and respond to the danger calls of other birds, suggesting that they have an advanced level of awareness about the world around them. For more information about this, please read this article at Australian Geographic.

Fairy-wrens eavesdrop to avert danger.

p.s. Most images of superb fairy wrens have been enhanced to a more cyan/blue colour, yet their plumage in reality is closer to the photograph that I have taken above. I hope you enjoy his image!  I most certainly do… :).

The Christmas Budgie

Here’s a little Christmas poem and picture I created for children. Please share it! I also wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2015 New Year!

The xmas budgie by Bridget Cameron

The Christmas Budgie

I have a budgie, whose name is Zoom,
He likes to fly around my living room.

Last Christmas Eve when I wasn’t looking,
He found my Christmas stocking.

He bit a hole, right through the sole,
Then, popped his head right out that hole.

Delighted with his Christmas gown,
Zoom bobbed happily up and down.

He looked so proud, full of Christmas cheer,
It even brought me a Christmas tear.

Then, he started whistling Jingle Bells,
Singing wholeheartedly like Peals.

All on Christmas Eve, Upon my Christmas Reeve.

I know that pain and suffering are one side of the coin of life,

thus accept them and grow through them,

whilst remaining vigilant to the joy and light within my heart,

and let them direct me.

Light Garden

I’m experimenting with new techniques on illustrations that I have created. I quite like this effect of mirrored reflections and refractions, in the shape of a shamrock.  I guess it’s a lucky symbol for the Irish at heart! What do you think?

This is a picture from my children’s picture book, Tickle me Pink. This book introduces colour, tickles and rhymes to young children. I just love the image of this child, so carefree and happy. Such unbridled joy! 🙂

TORI AMOS Live from Her Majesty’s Theatre Adelaide, 16th Nov 2014

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Last night, I had the great fortune of experiencing Tori Amos, live at Her Majesty’s Theatre, Adelaide, as part of her Unrepentant Geraldines Tour; which started May 5, 2014, with over 80 stops across Europe, North America, South Africa and now,  Australia.

Tori’s spell binding performance, kept people silent for most of the concert, emotionally connected to the ‘soul’ of her experience.

She felt at home in Adelaide, saying, ‘It’s Sam’s home, so I kind of feel like it’s my home in a way,” referring to  Samuel Adamson (collaborator on the London National Theatre production The Light Princess); which I think made her feel emotionally connected, adding richness to her performance, and our enjoyment of it  :).

For 2 solid hours she performed a wonderful selection of composition and songs, such as Parasol, Bliss off To Venus And Back (1999) China and Little Earthquakes off her debut album of the same name. She also sang Oysters off Unrepentant Geraldines before diving into Pandora’s Aquarium and Father LuciferShe’s addicted to Nicotine Patches, Lovesong,  her heart warming rendition of Somewhere over the rainbow, Cornflake Girl and Bliss came with the firm thumping close of the piano lid!  It was terrific, and the stage lighting set her off brilliantly, bathed as she was in a light show of multiple changing rainbow hues and stars.

With her distinctive and unique singing, song- writing and piano playing, just Tori Amos alternating between her Bösendorfer piano and her keyboard and rocking and straddling her piano stool. We were  transported on a roller-coaster of emotions and experience.

Thank you Tori Amos for coming to Adelaide and sharing your music!  You gave a virtuoso performance. It was inspirational and amazing!

Southern Dart-Skipper Butterfly delight

Southern Dart-Skipper Butterfly delight

I was walking around some Wetlands yesterday, taking in the magnificent watery views with its abundance of wildlife. It was a buzz watching ducks and water fowl swimming and having fun, whilst magpie larks, parrots and pigeons glided on high or nestled in tall branches. I decided to investigate further and began to walk through the marshes where ducks nested and dragonflies and butterflies played. It was here, that I spotted this Southern Dart, Ocybadistes walkeri hypochlora, so small, yet so intricate and lovely. Once home I could zoom in and check out all of its fine details, and now I share this lovely little butterfly with you. 🙂

HOW DO I CREATE? My creative process.

Image

GALACTIC CONCEPTION

I was asked this question by my dear friend Eiry Rees Thomas, author of The Flitwits http://theflitwits.com/author/eiry/. She wanted to know how I created, my exact creative process, and thought that my answer would be good for others to know also.

So here’s my response… Generally my images are spontaneous, that is, I feel moved to create and create from my imagination. Other times, I sit on something that caught my imagination, and I think about it, feel it, and sometimes use other sources of references to fine tune my ultimate creation.  I read a lot and assimilate as I go, never knowing when some seeds may be sprouted. Quite often images come to me when I look at the moon, and I future creations, then I dream more about it, and when the time is ripe, ‘out it pops!’

My writings are like that too, especially my poetry, which generally pops out as I’m writing it, yet was formed already in my dream state prior to its manifestation. With longer writings, I use this same spontaneous process, but dream, research and think a lot about it, before I write. At times it needs no editing, it just flows out perfectly, and other times, editing is needed to give it a more sound structure or to make it flow/ sound better.  I like to read it aloud, to hear inconsistencies, as music and rhythm is important. Some works need quite a lot of editing, in order to remove the superfIuous and/or inauthentic tones.

It is important to be critical of one’s work, in order to improve it. However, knowing when to stop analysing and critiquing is essential, as it can really dampen the process; take the joy out of it, and lead to more mistakes, that need to be rectified, leading down a spiral of more corrections. I do this sometimes, when I am too much in my ‘head’ or tired or in lots of pain. Knowing when to stop, is essential to the path of any writer/creator, as I don’t think we should take the joy out of our creations. Acceptance and letting go are part of that process too.

In a nutshell: Trust in ‘self’ and the creative process!

Happy creating!  Bridget Cameron :).

UNIVERSAL CREATIVITY

Image

In the synthesis of the moment,
In a symbiotic attunement,

Consciousness becomes aware of creation,
Sublimation and ideation.
Bursting forth its inspiration,
Delivering fruits of the imagination,
Whole in its acted manifestation.

Recreation in the moment,
in a symbiotic attunement.

Lion Heart

LION HEART

When you feel the world upon your shoulders, and you feel you’re falling apart,

dig deep down within, and grab your lion’s heart.

When you’ve given it all you’ve got, and it’s still not enough,

dig deep down within, and grab you’re lion’s ruff.

When you’ve run out of resources, and life appears empty,

dig deep down within and your lion will give you plenty.

When there’s nothing at all inspiring, and you’ve hit a brick wall,

dig deep down within, ‘cause your lion won’t fall.

Image

When life has treated you unfairly, and you cannot forgive,

dig deep down within, and make your lion friend live.

If at first you don’t succeed, don’t fear, the lion will come,

then grab on tight to his mane, and you’ll find it can be done.

For the lion is not scary, he’s your friend, not your foe.

And, if you have any doubts, just let your lion show.

For deep within our hearts, we have a lion’s strength,

so do yourself a favour, just grab your lion’s heart!
