Ocean Womb

This is an old poem that I want to share with you!  It is the experience I had just after exchanging vows with my beloved. All of nature joined in to share our joy, and for one hour or so, I swam with the dolphins and heard the most beautiful music.

Sea Dance by Bridget Cameron

OCEAN WOMB

Looking out towards the ocean from the crest in the dune where I stand, I see an expanse of water that continues as far as the horizon. Where the water meets the sand, waves break, producing foaming froth, as the sea sparkles her brilliance at me. From the froth I visualise Botticelli’s, Birth of Venus as she rides on her shell towards me.

I walk a little further until I reach the beach and sit in quiet contemplation, marvelling many of nature’s secrets, until an urge draws me into the whispering sea…

I splash, I bathe, I run, I skip, I swirl, I swim, I am embraced. I feel like a child wrapped in the arm s of a loving Mother, nurtured and loved we unite as one. She sings to me, she clothes me, I am the seed within her liquid womb.

Small colourful fish swim with me, kissing my body ever so gently, and lead me to an oasis of dolphins dreaming. Two streams of dolphins unite to create future magic. I become part of their dreaming and recall the unfolding of nature’s celestial tunes within the cathedral of my heart. Such ecstasy and beauty fill me, as I ride the rippling diamond sea upon the dolphins’ breath.

The heavens open sprinkling the earth as waves caress my body and land me upon the shore. Standing upright a rainbow bridge joins a golden setting sun and a rising silvery moon.

BUTTERFLY DANCER

Painted Lady butterfly

A little dancer upon the breeze,
flutters up the hill to be near me.

A flash of orange-brown all around,
Prancing to her beat.
Dancing gracefully,
fluttering here,
fluttering there,
‘oer trees against a clear blue sky.

Lifted upon the wind,
she’s coming closer,
oh sweet lovely,
I see her,
she’s almost here…

Watching moving colours and patterns dance,
Makes my heart sing.
Orange, brown, yellow, crème and white,
outlined in black ink,
smiles upon the wind and lets her beauty shine.

Coming closer now, almost touching,
Butterfly does a curtsy and swirls around my head,
making me feel dizzy, giddy and ecstatic inside.

She’s here now…
Kissing me ever so gently,
to the hum of her beating wings against my face.

I feel her through my whole body, and sing,

Thank you, sweet sister of the wind,
Delighted by your presence.
I wish you a good day too,
And I see you’re on your way…

HOW DO I CREATE? My creative process.

GALACTIC CONCEPTION

I was asked this question by my dear friend Eiry Rees Thomas, author of The Flitwits http://theflitwits.com/author/eiry/. She wanted to know how I created, my exact creative process, and thought that my answer would be good for others to know also.

So here’s my response… Generally my images are spontaneous, that is, I feel moved to create and create from my imagination. Other times, I sit on something that caught my imagination, and I think about it, feel it, and sometimes use other sources of references to fine tune my ultimate creation.  I read a lot and assimilate as I go, never knowing when some seeds may be sprouted. Quite often images come to me when I look at the moon, and I future creations, then I dream more about it, and when the time is ripe, ‘out it pops!’

My writings are like that too, especially my poetry, which generally pops out as I’m writing it, yet was formed already in my dream state prior to its manifestation. With longer writings, I use this same spontaneous process, but dream, research and think a lot about it, before I write. At times it needs no editing, it just flows out perfectly, and other times, editing is needed to give it a more sound structure or to make it flow/ sound better.  I like to read it aloud, to hear inconsistencies, as music and rhythm is important. Some works need quite a lot of editing, in order to remove the superfIuous and/or inauthentic tones.

It is important to be critical of one’s work, in order to improve it. However, knowing when to stop analysing and critiquing is essential, as it can really dampen the process; take the joy out of it, and lead to more mistakes, that need to be rectified, leading down a spiral of more corrections. I do this sometimes, when I am too much in my ‘head’ or tired or in lots of pain. Knowing when to stop, is essential to the path of any writer/creator, as I don’t think we should take the joy out of our creations. Acceptance and letting go are part of that process too.

In a nutshell: Trust in ‘self’ and the creative process!
